Receive Department of the Interior Oil and Gas Industry Awards

Gerald (Gerry) Macey, Executive Vice President Offshore and New Ventures Exploration, EnCana Corporation, and Mark Schindler, President and CEO, Lynx Enterprises Inc. of Anchorage, were awarded the Minerals Management Service’s Corporate Leadership Award (CORLA).  Assistant Secretary of the Interior for Land and Minerals Management Rebecca Watson and R.M. “Johnnie” Burton, Director of the Minerals Management Service, recognized the best in the energy industry during the MMS Industry Awards Program today in Houston,Texas.

Mr. Macey and Mr. Schindler were recognized for their exemplary leadership of the McCovey exploration project in the Beaufort Sea Outer Continental Shelf this past winter.  Using their in-depth understanding of and sensitivity to the Alaska Native subsistence culture, EnCana and Lynx promoted a Native relations policy that built trust and working relationships with the North Slope communities.  Their leadership roles were instrumental for the completion of the McCovey exploration program.

MMS is the federal agency in the U.S. Department of the Interior that manages the nation's oil, natural gas and other mineral resources on the outer continental shelf in federal offshore waters. The agency also collects and disburses mineral revenues from federal and Indian leases.
