BOEM's Environmental Studies Program develops, funds, and manages scientific research to inform the bureau's decision making. The BOEM Environmental Studies Program Hub allows users to conduct topic-based searches to find relevant study information from over 50 years of BOEM-funded research, including a social sciences theme page, with a link to environmental justice studies.
Two studies on the 2023-2024 National Studies List center on environmental justice:
- Piloting an Approach to Community-Informed Characterization of Environmental Justice (EJ) Communities Potentially Impacted by BOEM-Authorized Activities
- Understanding Potential Health Impacts of Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) Energy Activities on Environmental Justice (EJ) Populations
Additionally, BOEM maintains a library of environmental justice-related literature for use in analysis documents. The bibliography of the library is available here.
