Southern New England/New York Bight Area

Liberty Wind (OCS-A 0522): This commercial offshore wind energy lease was awarded to Vineyard Wind effective April 1, 2019. Vineyard Wind has identified a portion of this area as being home to the Liberty Wind project.

Mayflower Wind (OCS-A 0521):  This commercial offshore wind energy lease was awarded to Mayflower Wind Energy, LLC effective April 1, 2019. Mayflower Wind is a joint venture between Shell New Energies and EDP Renewables. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts selected Mayflower Wind for a 804 MW project in October 2019.

Vineyard Wind (OCS-A 0501): Vineyard Wind received a lease for an area totaling 166,886 in 2015. For more information, visit www.boem.gov/vineyard-wind/. Geophysical surveys are ongoing.

Park City Wind (OCS-A 0501): Vineyard Wind LLC, was selected by Connecticut in December 2019 to supply an 804 MW to the State. This project would occupy the southern half of lease area OCS-A 0501). For more information, visit www.boem.gov/vineyard-wind/. Geophysical surveys are ongoing.

Bay State Wind (OCS-A 0500): Ørsted received a lease for an area totaling 187,523 acres in 2015. For more information, visit http://www.boem.gov/Commercial-Wind-Leasing-Offshore-Massachusetts/. Geophysical surveys are continuing in the lease area.

Bay State Wind submitted a Construction and Operations Plan in March 2019, plans are currently under review.

Sunrise Wind (OCS-A 0487 & OCS-A 0500): This Ørsted/Eversource 880 MW project was selected by New York in 2019. Geophysical surveys are continuing in the lease area.

South Fork Wind Farm (OCS-A 0486).  This Ørsted/Eversource project was selected by the Long Island Power Authority to deliver approximately 130 MW to Long Island, NY.

OCS-A 0482. This lease was awarded to GSOE I, LLC in December 2012.

Skipjack (OCS-A 0519). This project being developed by Ørsted, was selected as being eligible for an offshore renewable energy tax credit by the State of Maryland in 2013. A COP was submitted to BOEM in April 2019 and is currently under review.

US Wind Maryland (OCA-A 0490). This lease was awarded to US Wind Inc. in December 2014. The US Wind Marwind project is within this lease area. A site assessment plan to construct a meteorological tower was approved in March 2018.

Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (OCS-A 0497). This research lease was awarded to the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Department of Mines Minerals & Energy in April 2014. A research activities plan (RAP) for two turbines was approved with revisions in June 2019. Ørsted has been selected by Virginia and Dominion Energy to do the engineering, procurement, and construction work for the project. Dominion Energy will operate the project.

North Carolina Kitty Hawk (OCS-A 0508). Avangrid Renewables received a lease for 122,405 acres offshore North Carolina in 2017.
