Guam Task Force Meeting

You’re Invited: Inaugural BOEM Guam Intergovernmental Renewable Energy Task Force Meeting

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) Guam Intergovernmental Renewable Energy Task Force (“Task Force”), established in 2024, reflects a partnership between federal, territorial, and local agencies, as well as offices who regularly engage with members of the Chamorro community. The Task Force serves as a renewable energy forum to discuss issues and concerns; exchange data and information about biological, cultural, and physical resources, ocean uses, and priorities; and facilitate early and continual dialogue and collaboration opportunities.

BOEM and the Territory of Guam are holding the Inaugural Guam Intergovernmental Renewable Energy Task Force meeting on September 11, 2024, from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm (ChST) at the Guam Museum (193 Chalan Santo Papa Juan Pablo Dos, Hagatna, Guam 96910). The meeting will also be held virtually over Zoom.

Advanced registration is required if joining the meeting virtually. Please register for the meeting here: https://kearnswest.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_fNUQxSK0TuGnGqurK9-Vww#/registration

The meeting will include overviews of the following topics: Guam’s renewable energy goals, floating offshore wind technology, BOEM’s leasing process and current region-specific studies, the National Center for Coastal Ocean Science modeling process, and the status of offshore wind planning in Guam. The meeting will provide time for open discussion among Task Force members to discuss next steps for Guam offshore wind planning.

The public is welcome to attend this meeting, which will include an opportunity at the end of the meeting for public input, both virtually and in-person, on topics identified on the meeting agenda.
