In support of Inauguration events, the Main Interior Building (MIB) will continue to be within a vehicular and pedestrian security perimeter through midnight Wednesday, January 20. The 14th Street, Theodore Roosevelt and Memorial Bridges inbound from Virginia to the District of Columbia will close at 6 AM on Tuesday through 6 AM Thursday. Due to the level of road closures, fencing and barriers installed, it is anticipated that public transport will still be disrupted and the MIB garages will not be accessible on Thursday, January 21. Employees should continue to expect significant commuting delays through Thursday, January 21, and should monitor local news for the latest road closure information. Road closure information can also be found on the United States Secret Service website. The WMATA website shows the Foggy Bottom-GWU Metro station as the most viable Metro station to access the MIB.
While the MIB will remain open, pedestrian access will be via a security access point at F Street NW between 18th and 19th streets until midnight Wednesday, January 20. You will need to present a DOI PIV card and be subject to a search. Employees should remain flexible and follow local on-site law enforcement directions, as the security checkpoint may change without notice. Limited parking is available at the Federal Reserve Building on Thursday, January 21, from 4:30 AM to midnight. Requests are made through your Parking Coordinator.
Although normal weekday operations will resume on Thursday, January 21, employees who do not wish to work on-site at the MIB on Thursday, January 21, and Friday, January 22 (normal work days), should contact their supervisor to request telework or request to use their alternative work schedule day off, annual leave, leave without pay, previously earned compensatory time off and/or earned credit hours under a flexible work schedule.
