WASHINGTON, DC - The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NAS) will hold the fifth meeting of the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) Standing Committee on Offshore Science and Assessment on March 6 and 7 at the National Academy of Sciences building, 2101 Constitution Avenue, N.W., Washington, D.C., 20418. The meeting is open to media and the public, although seating is limited. The Academies require advance registration to attend in person. The meeting will be live webcast both days.
The agenda will include a review of BOEM’s National Studies Program Strategic Framework on the first day; the second day will include a presentation and evaluation of two priority science profile topics: Use of Satellite Data for Offshore Air Quality Applications, and Archiving of Invertebrates and Genomic Tissue Samples and the use of DNA for monitoring and assessing the environment.
The public session on March 6 is scheduled from 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. EST. The committee will consider comments and questions from the media and public before the breaks. Comments or questions may be submitted throughout the day by email to osbfeedback@nas.edu.
The March 7 public session is scheduled from 9:30 a.m-4:00 p.m., with the same arrangements for considering comments and questions from the media and the public.

The committee encompasses a broad range of expertise in both natural and social sciences, relevant disciplines within those broad areas, and collective expertise from academia, industry, government, and the non-profit world in all four Outer Continental Shelf regions.
