On June 17, BOEM announced the availability of a draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the proposed Ocean Wind 1 wind energy project offshore New Jersey. The DEIS was posted online and on June 24, BOEM published the Notice of Availability in the Federal Register, initiating the formal start of a 45-day public comment period, originally scheduled to end August 8, 2022.
This comment period has now been extended by 15 calendar days. BOEM is extending the comment period based on requests from the public and a technical correction to the Ocean Wind 1 Construction and Operations Plan (COP) and DEIS. Details on the technical correction can be found on the BOEM DEIS webpage. BOEM will receive public comments on the DEIS through 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on Tuesday, August 23, 2022.
BOEM’s DEIS for the proposed Ocean Wind 1 Offshore Wind Farm analyzes the potential environmental impacts of the proposed project as described in the Ocean Wind 1 COP and the alternatives to the proposed plan for constructing and operating a wind energy facility offshore New Jersey. Public comments and input are critical in informing BOEM's decision-making process.
