Reminder: BOEM to Hold Public Meetings on Draft Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement

As a reminder, the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) will hold three virtual public meetings to gather public input on the Gulf of Mexico (GOM) Regional Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) Oil and Gas Lease Sales Draft Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). 

On Dec. 6, 2024, BOEM announced the availability of the Programmatic EIS, which is expected to inform the decision for the first GOM oil and gas lease sale proposed in the 2024-2029 National Outer Continental Shelf Oil and Gas Leasing Program. It will also serve as a framework, to be used and supplemented as appropriate, for future proposed GOM lease sale decisions. Additionally, it will support post-lease site and activity-specific analyses and approvals for OCS oil and gas activities.  

The Notice of Availability published in the Federal Register on Dec.13, 2024, starting a 45-day comment period. Three virtual public meetings will be held during this period: 

BOEM will provide an opportunity for participants to present oral testimony during these meetings. Registration is strongly encouraged for those wishing to present oral comments.
