On Jan. 8, 2024, BOEM announced the availability of its Draft Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement (Draft PEIS) for potential development of six wind lease areas offshore New York and New Jersey, in an area known as the New York Bight. On Jan. 12, 2024, BOEM published a notice of availability of the Draft PEIS, opening a 45-day public comment period that ends on 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on Feb. 26, 2024. BOEM has scheduled five public meetings (three in-person and two virtual) during the comment period. The input received during the comment period will inform the Final PEIS.
Please join us for the upcoming in-person and virtual public meetings, held on the dates and times indicated below. All times are Eastern.
In-person public meetings:
These meetings will follow an informal, open-house style format. After checking in at the registration desk, attendees can visit stations to view project information posters staffed by BOEM subject matter experts. Attendees can also view pre-recorded video presentations providing information on the environmental review process and an overview of the Draft PEIS that will be played continuously from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The goal of these meetings is to share information and answer questions from the public. During the meetings, attendees can submit formal public comments for the record on laptops to www.regulations.gov, via handwritten comment cards, or by individually recording oral comments.
Pre-registration is recommended and available through this page.
