On May 15, 2024, the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) and the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) have finalized updated regulations for renewable energy development on the U.S. Outer Continental Shelf (OCS).  The updated financial assurance regulations incorporate BOEM’s experience with offshore oil and gas, simplify and strengthen the requirements, and better reflect the risks of decommissioning offshore renewable facilities.
