Deputy Regional Director

Sharon Randall currently serves as the Alaska Region’s deputy director. Located in Anchorage, Sharon came to BOEM in 2014 and has served the Region in multiple capacities -- including NEPA coordinator, chief of an Environmental Analysis Section, and regional supervisor for the Office of Environment -- before being appointed deputy director. Prior to accepting a position with BOEM she spent 24 years with National Forest Systems, on the Chugach National Forest, as a forest planner, environmental coordinator, and program manager. An Alaska resident since 1992, Sharon spent the early portion of her career conducting research with universities, the National Park Service, private companies and the research branch of the Forest Service.

Sharon has an extensive background in leading teams, conducting environmental reviews, public engagement, collaborative learning and planning. She holds a bachelor’s degrees in botany and outdoor recreation, and a master’s degree in recreation resource management, all from the University of Maryland. During her free time she enjoys hiking, walking marathons, rooting for the Orioles and Bills, and raising her four-legged daughter, Tink -- coincidentally born on Sharon’s first day at BOEM!
