BOEM hosted four, sector-specific Gulf of Mexico Fisheries workshops January 19-20, 2022. Stakeholders shared information and discussed issues as BOEM prepares for development of potential wind energy areas and environmental reviews for offshore wind projects in the Gulf of Mexico.
The purpose of the meetings was to collect information that will help avoid, minimize or mitigate potential impacts on commercial and recreational fisheries and fishing.
The meetings were open to the public and offered an opportunity to learn about the renewable energy leasing process, renewables environmental review process, and potential renewable activities in the Gulf of Mexico. For more information on the workshop and other public meetings, see below.
